Skins

I’ve been seeing promo’s on MTV for Skins, simultaneously my streaming Netflix has been suggesting I watch the original BBC version.  I figured MTV would water down whatever was pure & good about this show in the first place and decided to give the original Skins a go (Why not air the original?).  Being that I’ve been home sick for a week, time is something I’ve had to waste and watched the first and a bit of the second season.  My thoughts?  I like it. This show is well thought out.  It’s not glamorous or fantastic in anyway, like Gossip Girl or 90201.  It deals with a group of middle class teens growing up in suburban England who have a complex, never ending amount of problems; family, drugs, school, friends, lovers, etc. in a real way, sometimes over dramatized.  I was a big My So Called Life fan back in the day, possibly the last good show MTV aired.  The MTV version may be good (the original skins creators are behind it)
